Are you Spiritually Alive?

The Hebrew Scriptures teach that there are three types of Life; Physical life, Spiritual life, and Eternal life. Most people today are only physically alive.

Starting in the Book of Genesis:

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

According to the Scriptures mankind has been created in God’s Image. He has a body, soul, and spirit. When Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden… man died Spiritually.

Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat it you shall surely die.

In the poetic book of Job… Job asked the question; If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, until my change come. Job 14:14

Job went on to affirm… that the answer is yes a man will live again spiritually & eternally, because Job says he will wait until his change comes. What change?

The change that the later prophets spoke of. A new Heart.

Ezekiel 36:26-28 And I will give you a new heart with new and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony heart of sin and give you a new, obedient heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so you will obey my laws and do whatever I command. "And you will live in Israel, the land I gave your ancestors long ago. You will be my people, and I will be your God.

Ezekiel 11:19-20 And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their hearts of stone and give them tender hearts instead, so they will obey my laws and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God.

Jeremiah 32:39-41 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

Have you ever wondered why the Jewish Scriptures have so much prophesy in them? Why are there so many predictions of the future and future events concerning Israel?

Isaiah 44:6-7 "This is what the LORD, Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty, says: I am the First and the Last; there is no other God. Who else can tell you what is going to happen in the days ahead? Let them tell you if they can and thus prove their power. Let them do as I have done since ancient times.

This is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob proving he exists. Listen to what he says will happen to Israel:

Jeremiah 31:31-34 "The day will come," says the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. This covenant will not be like the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt. They broke that covenant, though I loved them as a husband loves his wife," says the LORD. "But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day," says the LORD. "I will put my laws in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

A New Covenant:

God is preparing the world and he is preparing his people the Jews for the eternity he has spoke of from the beginning of creation. The Lord spoke to Daniel and said: Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who turn many to righteousness will shine like stars forever. Daniel 12:3

The Proverbs declare: The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that wins souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30

A new covenant. A new way in which God will interact with his precious people. Are you spiritually alive? Do you have spiritual life? Have you turned to the Lord God and asked him to give you this new heart?

Physical life… Spiritual life… Eternal life. Where do you stand?
